HIFU – Lifting

view pricetable

HIFU – high intensity focused ultrasound, i.e. a focused beam of long-range sound waves in which ultrasound is used.

HIFU is a high frequency acoustic wave that causes cells to move in tissues. The wave has a limited range and can accumulate at different tissue depths – in aesthetic medicine three depths are used – 1.5, 3.0 and 4.5 mm. The concentrated beam of ultrasound reaching a certain depth causes movement and friction of the cells generating heat, which in turn leads to micro burns inside the tissue – they have a diameter of 0.5 to 1 mm. The surface of the skin remains intact, but underneath there are intense processes of reconstruction and regeneration stimulated by damage.

Benefits of HIFU treatment

As a result of burns, at a certain depth of tissue, regeneration and thickening of the current cell structure begins. Collagen fibers are shortened, which gives a small effect immediately after the procedure. On the other hand, you have to wait for the final effect from a few months to half a year, so much time is needed for the skin to be completely restored.

Effects of the HIFU treatment:

  • skin thickening,
  • reduction of flaccidity,
  • sharpening the face contour,
  • firming the skin on the neck and cheeks,
  • making the skin more elastic,
  • wrinkle reduction,
  • reduction of pores.

The HIFU treatment is intended for people with flabby skin who do not want to undergo invasive procedures and facelifts. The effects last from 18 months to even two years. You can also use HIFU together with other firming and lifting methods.

Course of treatment

The first step in the HIFU method is to apply a gel to the skin, which increases the efficiency of the penetration of sound waves into the skin. For a person with extremely sensitive skin, local ointment anesthesia may also be given. The procedure itself involves applying an ultrasound head to the skin. The duration of the procedure is usually 20-30 minutes.

HIFU can be used by anyone who is not satisfied with the firmness of their skin and when the first signs of aging appear. Indications for the procedure using ultrasound are also: reducing the likelihood of loss of skin firmness during weight loss, flaccid skin after pregnancy or sudden weight loss, face and cleavage lift, as well as flaccid skin on the thighs, breasts and buttocks. It is also worth mentioning that ultrasounds have a positive effect on the reduction of enlarged pores and sharpen the face contour.

Contraindications and side effects

The HIFU method is relatively safe and does not cause serious side effects that can significantly affect discomfort. It is worth remembering, however, that it has some limitations. The main contraindications include:

  • skin inflammation,
  • cancer,
  • herpes,
  • pregnancy and breastfeeding,
  • implanted pacemaker or other metal implants,
  • mechanical damage to the skin,
  • epilepsy,
  • cardiovascular diseases,
  • multiple sclerosis.

Regarding side effects, relatively small swelling may persist at the site of the procedure for several days. In extreme cases, atrophic scars and skin burns were observed. It is worth remembering, however, that such cases are extremely rare.
